By Jeff Daws

An Iron U18 team that ended the game with 3 U15s, 4 U16s, 3 U17s and an U18 narrowly lose to EFL Youth Alliance NE League leaders.

The Iron's youngest ever U18 team were narrowly edged out by EFL NE Youth Alliance League leaders Grimsby Town FC U18s at Brumby Hall this morning.

The Iron started the game with 1 U18, 4 U17s, 4 U16s and 2 U15s.

The only goal of the game came in the first half from a disputed corner which was awarded when the referee seemed to overturn the assistant referee's signal that it was a goal kick to the young Iron.

From the corner, a clearance by the Iron ricocheted against a Grimsby player and ended up in the back of the Scunthorpe United net.

The Iron concluded the game with 1 U18, 3 U17s, 4 U16s and 3 U15s on the pitch!

The Claret & Blue youngsters were unfortunate not to take something from the game.
